As a 21st century alternative of an artificial tourism infrastructure, GWK Cultural Park is currently developing into a cultural park that covers cultural exhibitions, events and amusement attractions as well as becoming the information and communication forum for local, national, regional and even international cultures.
In 2012 we completed the acquisition of 90.3% stake of PT Garuda Adhimatra Indonesia, which holds title to the land located in the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park (the "GWK Cultural Park") in Bali for a total consideration of Rp812.6 billion. The GWK Cultural Park is a tourist attraction that is expected to become part of a 60-hectare mixed-used development in which we plan to include residential, hospitality and commercial properties for sale and for lease. The Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) Statue, designed and built by Nyoman Nuarta, one of Indonesia's foremost modern sculptors, the statue will be standing 150 meters tall with a 64-meter wingspan. Made from more than 4000 tons of copper and brass, the statue portrays Lord Wisnu, the source of wisdom, riding on the back of the mythical Garuda bird as the manifestation of conscience toward Amerta, the figure of perennial goodness.
The statue and its pedestal will be surrounded by more than a 60-hectares cultural park, created from an abandoned and unproductive limestone quarry. The cultural park will provide attractions for both local and foreign visitors, with supporting facilities such as a Lotus Pond, a Festival Park, an Amphitheater, Street Theater, an Exhibition Hall, as well as 'Jendela Bali, The Panoramic Resto' and souvenir shops. At the present, the statue of Wisnu, the statue of Garuda, and the hands of Wisnu have been placed temporarily in three different plazas within the park.
GWK Cultural Park is intended to educate (particularly the young generations) about the importance of preserving and cultivating the world's cultural heritage.
